Ok. You guessed it- this month’s blog is totally about “The Bachelor” and the story behind all those signature red roses. If you’ve ever been curious about what kind of roses are used on the show or how many roses are given out during the rose ceremonies, well- you’ve come to the right place! So if you’re ready, let’s dive in…

1)    What kind of roses are used on the show?

Sure, we all know they use red roses. But did you know that in the world of flowers there are quite a few different color shades and hues as well as rose varieties? After doing my own research and looking as closely as possible at the roses featured on screen, I’m almost 100% certain that the rose variety used on “The Bachelor” is called “Sexy Red.” How perfect is that? Sure, reality television seems to almost always get a bad rap, but it looks like someone definitely did their homework here! After all, the show’s claim to fame is about finding true love. So what better way to highlight that than with plenty of “Sexy Red” roses? :)

I also want to point out to you that the flower color spectrum varies from dark, moody shades of red and pans all the way to a bright, bold hue on the lighter side of the spectrum. “Sexy Red” definitely falls into that brighter, more bold category- which is perfect for being in the spotlight on television!

2)    How many roses are used in the rose ceremonies?

According to wetpaint.com, more than seven DOZEN roses are handed out during the course of a season of “The Bachelor.”  But, we know there’s also much more than just seven dozen roses involved. Think about the first impression rose and all the rose arrangements on the set of “After the Final Rose” episode. Not to mention, plenty of rose petals used in promotional photos before the show has even premiered! So yes, that’s a TON of roses.

3)    It’s more than just the rose that tells the story.

If you watched the most recent season of “The Bachelor,” you probably thought to yourself, “umm, yes Chris Harrison- this was DEFINITELY the most dramatic season ever!” For those of us who are “Bachelor” fans, we all know the word “dramatic” tends to be just a tad overused…am I right?

Anyway, back to the point. As a florist, I’ll admit that I tend to turn into a bit of a flower nerd whenever I watch shows like “The Bachelor.” They always travel with the contestants to so many beautiful places on the planet. And those locations almost always feature the most gorgeous flowers! On one of the stops this season, they traveled to Peru. One of the dinner dates featured a table centerpiece with a flower called “Alstroemeria.” AKA: the “Peruvian Lily.” Get it? Peru…and Peruvian lily?! I know, I know- I'm a total flower nerd. But at least I warned you ;)

Flowers have told stories about people for centuries. Just like the Peruvian Lilies helped to tell a love story on "The Bachelor," we aim to tell our clients’ unique stories through custom designed floral pieces. Whether it’s a wedding bouquet or a “just because” arrangement, our goal is to spread plenty of flower joy to our clients in Central Texas!

If you’re thinking you or your business could use some flower joy, I invite you to take a look at our website here: https://www.wellspringfloral.com/new-page/

As always, thank you so much for reading and I hope to tell your story though flowers one day soon!
